Josh Place | CEO

Josh got into recruiting after playing professional hockey.  Ed and Josh found each other while making placements for a mutual startup client. Under the close tutelage of High Tech Ventures founder, Ed Takacs, Josh became HTV’s all-time top performer.

Josh succeeded Ed as HTV’s Chief Executive Officer in April 2020.

High Tech Ventures was a seed investor in Dropbox.  Other investments include: Veracode (CA), Sqrrl (Amazon), bit9/carbon black (Vmware), Bladelogic (BMC), NuoDB (Vmware), Diffeo (Salesforce), Endeca (Oracle) – just to name a few.

Ed Takacs | Founder

Edward Takacs founded High Tech Ventures in 1986. During his 25+ years spent placing high-level executives into early-stage start-ups, Ed developed a profound domain knowledge of how to broker people, companies and ideas; how people make critical decisions; and how successful companies and careers are formed.

Ed started his career at Intel, where he was a top sales performer. He holds an MBA from the Univ. of Chicago, a BS in EE from Univ. of Santa Clara, and a BA in economics from the Univ. of the Pacific.
